Dining late with Marsha J

On November 8 to 17, SSCo Event Management and the RJR GLEANER Communications Group in Jamaica will do it again. Restaurant Week will be staged and Jamaicans along with tourists who travel yearly for the event, will bask in another year of culinary excellence. The 15th staging will see for the first time, a record number of 104 restaurants across six parishes, opening their doors come November 8-17, according to the Gleaner.

"We are excited to announce that our favorite Nyam & Scram experience will run for the first time in Montego Bay. Additionally, the culinary celebration now includes participating restaurants in more cities well beyond the Kingston, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. Wine and dine in Old Harbour, Portmore, Runaway Bay, Hanover and Negril."

stated the Event organizers.

UME Press caught up with Marsha J, international gospel recording artiste who resides in Ocho Rios, the tourist mecca of Jamaica located on the North Coast. She is an avid diner, especially during Restaurant Week. Here's what she told our Royal Events Paper:

"There is nothing like living that blessed life. Second to that there is nothing like food, fun and fellowship! After all, we are Jamaicans; and the Caribbean table is known for its flavor, vibrant colors and nostalgic smells. It tends to give you that good old feeling of home and family."

Jamaicans are known for hearty eating, the starlet highlighted smiling form ear to ear. Since we were children, especially on a Sunday, there was a difference cuisine for special days, she continued.

"For every special occasion a meal is served from date night, to birthdays to business meetings. Even for a personal movie hang out at home by yourself. Sundays and Wednesday is for rice and peas. You will always hear, nobody cooks on a Friday and Saturday unless they have to."

Marsha J describes.

“I'm not afraid or ashamed of my food game so a small tribe of us from different communities in Jamaica, decided a couple years ago, to take our love for food to the streets once a month, and we try to do it each year during Restaurant week. What’s good food without company? Just imagine this... leaving behind a hectic work week, going home catching a power nap, jump in the shower, get up, get ready and go! We have decided to go restaurant hopping through the nook and cranny of the north coast. While we treat our pallets, we get to meet new people, try new things and just liming with friends.”

You get to dine late with Marsha J and her tribe, as she calls it!

This year, the gang have decided to extend a very special invitation to other food lovers, who love a good company.

Our next adventure will be happening during Jamaica’s restaurant week this month, she tells Royal Events Paper, an increased number of restaurants will be participating from types of Epicurian to Nyam and Scram and Morning Bites. This event has been organized and hosted for the last 15 years by the SSco Event Management and RJR Communications Group. Its a culinary excellence at affordable prices giving discounts of up to 30% in 104 restaurants across six parishes including our beautiful Garden Parish, St Ann.

"No excuse fam, just budget for JM$3000 to treat yourself because you deserve it, and let’s make it a date. Get yourself out of the house, come hang with the me and my foodie tribe and #takeabite of paradise. Stay tuned for our rendezvous and time of meet up. Can’t wait to see you!"
